Modern Workplace Engineer
Job Description
You will play a hands?on engineering role focused on building and continuously improving a modern, highly automated Microsoft 365 environment spanning identity, endpoint management, and automation. Working as the senior escalation point alongside a L1/L2 team, you'll engineer scalable solutions that remove recurring issues, reduce manual effort, and enable secure, well?governed AI use cases that drive real productivity.
* 7+ years of overall IT experience, including 3-5 years in a solutions engineering, systems engineering, or modern workplace role
* Strong experience in Microsoft?centric environments, particularly Microsoft 365, Entra ID (Azure AD), and Intune
* Proven hands?on automation experience using PowerShell, Python, Microsoft Graph APIs or scripted workflows
* Deep understanding of identity and access management in modern cloud environments, including RBAC and lifecycle management
* Experience managing endpoint environments at scale, with strong Windows expertise and solid macOS awareness
* Background working as an escalation point, with the ability to diagnose root causes and implement permanent fixes
* Familiarity with AI tools such as Copilot, GPT?based agents, or Claude, and an understanding of how to deploy them responsibly in an enterprise setting
* Comfortable collaborating with technical and non technical stakeholders and translating business problems into engineered solutions
* Strong problem solving mindset with a focus on reducing noise, friction, and manual effort
Responsibilities Duties:
* Design, build, and operate automation to reduce IT operational workload using PowerShell, Microsoft Graph, or Python
* Engineer self healing solutions, proactive remediations, and automated workflows to remediate recurring incidents at scale
* Own and manage M365 and Entra ID, including user lifecycle management, role based access control, conditional access, and identity governance
* Build, manage, and maintain MicrosoftIntune:
* Device compliance and baselines
* Application packaging and software distribution
* Endpoint security and incident remediation
* Act as L3 escalation for complex identity, endpoint, and automation related issues
* Partner with Service Delivery to reduce ticket volumes through engineering fixes rather than manual responses
* Implement and support AI enabled use cases (e.g. Copilot, internal agents, ticket summarisation, knowledge retrieval) with appropriate governance, retention, and guardrails
* Work with business stakeholders (e.g. legal, finance, security) to translate use cases into secure, supportable solutions
* Contribute to integrations involving APIs and data feeds, particularly in regulated or fintech style environments
* Produce clear documentation, runbooks, and handover materials to enable ongoing operational support
