Planning Engineer
Job Description
This role is key to developing and maintaining accurate project schedules, tracking progress, and providing data-driven insights to support project teams. Working closely with the Planning Manager and Project Managers, you will ensure programmes are realistic, up to date, and aligned with site execution.
Education & Experience
* Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
* 3-6 years' experience in planning within construction or interior fit-out
* Experience in fast-track fit-out projects in the UAE is highly preferred
Technical Skills
* Proficiency in Primavera P6 and MS Project
* Good understanding of fit-out construction sequencing and project lifecycles
* Familiarity with local authority approval timelines in Dubai
* Basic knowledge of delay analysis and EOT processes is an advantage
Soft Skills
* Strong analytical and detail-oriented mindset
* Good communication and coordination skills
* Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
* Capable of managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities Duties:
Planning & Scheduling
* Develop and maintain detailed project programmes covering design, procurement, construction, and handover phases
* Update baseline and revised schedules on a regular basis to reflect actual site progress
* Support the preparation of short-term and long-term planning outputs, including look-ahead programmes
Progress Monitoring & Analysis
* Track project progress and compare actual performance against planned milestones
* Identify delays, analyse schedule variances, and highlight risks to the project team
* Assist in developing recovery plans and mitigation strategies
Coordination & Support
* Liaise with Project Managers, site engineers, procurement, and commercial teams to gather progress data
* Support integration of subcontractor and supplier programmes into the overall schedule
* Ensure alignment between planning outputs and site activities
Reporting
* Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports, dashboards, and 2-6 week look-ahead schedules
* Maintain accurate planning records and documentation
* Provide clear planning insights to support decision-making
Pre-Construction & Claims Support
* Assist with planning inputs during tender stages, including preparation of preliminary programmes
* Support the preparation of Extension of Time (EOT) documentation and basic delay analysis
* Contribute to maintaining records required for claims and reporting
Resource & Data Management
* Support resource planning, including tracking manpower histograms
* Coordinate with document control to ensure proper management of planning data and updates
