Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and technically capable Bit Runner / Field Engineer to join our Drill Bits division in Saudi Arabia. In this role, you will be the primary service representative at the rig site — responsible for the successful delivery of PDC and Tricone bit programs for Saudi Aramco and associated contractor operations. You will combine hands-on field execution with technical advisory support, playing a critical role in maximizing bit performance, ROP, and customer satisfaction across complex formations.

Requirements

– Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Petroleum, Mechanical, or related discipline) — or equivalent hands-on technical background.
– 1–5 years of dedicated field experience running PDC and Tricone drill bits.
– Demonstrated ability to read and interpret real-time drilling data and generate actionable performance reports.
– Familiarity with IADC dull grading standards and basic hydraulics calculations (TFA, HHP, flow rate optimization).
– Intermediate to Advanced proficiency in English (written and spoken); Arabic is an advantage.
– Medically fit for rig-site duty; ability to work rotational schedules and travel across Saudi Arabia as required.
– Saudi National or KSA-resident candidates are strongly preferred in alignment with Aramco In-Kingdom contractor requirements.
– Availability for on call schedule and willingness to travel.

Responsibilities Duties:

– Service Delivery & Rig-Site Execution
– Run PDC and Tricone drill bits on critical and complex wells, ensuring optimal performance and adherence to the approved Bit Running Procedure (BRP).
– Perform pre-job bit inspections, nozzle TFA calculations, and make-up procedures in compliance with BESTE and customer standards.
– Monitor real-time drilling parameters (WOB, RPM, flow rate, torque, ROP) and proactively recommend adjustments to optimize performance.
– Technical Support & Performance Analysis
– Conduct thorough dull bit grading (IADC standards) and deliver structured post-run analyses with lessons learned.
– Prepare and present job-specific reports including bit performance data, hydraulics summary, and recommendations for future runs.
– Analyze vibration logs and rig sensor data to identify and mitigate harmful drilling dysfunctions (bit bounce, stick-slip, whirl).
– Customer Relationship & HSE Leadership
– Serve as the primary BESTE representative to the Aramco drilling supervisor and rig crew, maintaining professional and proactive communication.
– Lead pre-job safety meetings, ensure JSA/RA compliance, and secure Work Permits from appropriate rig personnel.
– Apply Stop Work Authority (SWA) when unsafe conditions are identified without hesitation.
– Initiate, document, and close Correction, Prevention, and Improvement (CPI) reports related to bit performance and service quality issues.
– Mentor and develop Associate Technical Professionals (ATPs) and junior field personnel in bit running best practices.
