Job Description

The Director of Pharmacy Services is responsible for planning, organizing, and governing the clinical, regulatory, and financial operations of the institutional pharmaceutical division. The role ensures the successful execution of secure medication tracking, clean compounding workflows, and cost-efficient formulary balancing while fulfilling all federal and state regulatory reporting demands.

Required Qualifications * Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) or Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from an accredited educational facility.

  • Active, unrestricted Pharmacist License within the state of practice.

  • Approved eligibility or active registration as the designated Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC).

Preferred Skills * Exemplary professional leadership, budgetary control, and clinical operational mastery.

  • Deep functional familiarity with hospital automated dispensing systems (e.g., Pyxis, Omnicell).

Experience Required 3–5 years of progressive healthcare pharmacy management, clinical oversight, or residency tracking experience in an institutional hospital landscape.

Responsibilities Duties:

Key Responsibilities * Coordinate and execute comprehensive pharmacy operational frameworks, managing drug inventories, schedules, and clinical workflows.

  • Prepare institutional pharmacy operating budgets, clinical protocol audits, and staff resource rosters.

  • Monitor compound sterile preparations, verifying strict adherence to USP <797> and USP <800> directives.

  • Coordinate with medical directors, nursing leaders, infection control boards, and administrative teams.

  • Monitor drug usage patterns and promptly address formulary shortages or narcotics handling anomalies.

  • Maintain absolute compliance with State Board of Pharmacy codes, DEA provisions, and state regulations.
